Brittany visits Allie in Colorado, 2005

A few years ago, Allie was taking horseback riding lessons at a therapeutic riding program in Loveland called "Hearts and Horses". Brittany came to visit that summer and came to watch Allie ride. She really liked the horses and was excited to pet them. This was around 2005, I think. --Sue

Lilys First Day of College

Lily has finished her first week of College!!!
We are so proud of Lily, we took her to move into the Honors Dorm at Chico State University in Chico California on August 20th. We spent 3 days with her helping her settle in and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. She took her fabulous felt curbside bike that Uncle Matt and Aunt Candace gave her for graduation and left her car home. It is a very bike friendly town. The kids in the dorm were great and she is impressing everyone with her vegetarian cooking (although the boys in the dorm are a bit disappointed, they were quite hopeful when they saw all the cooking gear) Lily graduated from West High School with a full International Baccalaureate Diploma, letting her start college with a semester of college credit! She finds Chico, friendly, hot and full of people just like her. We wish her the best of luck and know all the doors to a successful adulthood are going to fly open for her.

Greg's Furniture Stores

My brother Greg and his family owns and operates Knight's Mattress & Furniture Outlets in six locations in Utah. They are constantly shopping the world markets for the best deals in quality furniture. Greg maintains the lowest margins on name brands, and gets large shipments direct from the manufacture to cut out costs. Be sure to drop by and say Hi when you are in the neighborhood of one of his stores. Tell him Hello from Sue for me!

August 16, 2008 - Wedding Day

Candice and Matt... it was a beautiful day in more ways than one!
Corbin as ring bearer... "these knots look like they need tightening"....
I now pronounce you...... you may kiss the bride!
Corbin is relaxing after the ceremony
Candice and Matt afterward. It was hard to snap a picture of them together... they were busy mingling with all the friends and family that came to wish them well.
(watch for Vinton's pictures to come soon!)

Visiting Dad - August 16, 2008

It was just a beautiful day, the day of Candice's and Matt's wedding. Jenny lives in Lehi, so it was very convenient to stop by to say Hello to Dad. I promised to give Candy a hug from him... and I did.

recipes for Lily

Dear Family,
As you all know Lily is off to College August 18. She is going to be living in the honors house at Chico State. It is a great space with a large fully equipped kitchen. I am compiling a recipe book and would love any contributions you all could make. Keep in mind, Lily is an aquaterian, that is she is a fish eating vegetarian. Thats all for now.
Love Trisha

Love Never Forgets!

See the full "true" story of Christian the lion and the two men who rescued him and later released him in the wilds of Africa. The movie shows their reunion after one year in the wild. Amazing and touching!

After the Tornado - Life is a Gift!

Wow! The things we learn from our animal friends...

If only all of mankind could learn such valuable lessons as this. Lessons
of instant friendship. Of peace and harmony by way of respect for one
another -- no matter one's color or creed. These animals tell you...

"It's just good to be alive and with others."

Yes, it surely is.

So... Live, love, laugh.

"Life's a Gift... Unwrap It!"

My remembrance...

I have thought about dad a lot this week and I ran into a picture that represents some of the best times I ever had with him. This picture was taken on our first Moab trip. Dad was so excited about the big fire and his dutch oven contraption that he asked me to take a picture of it. This was only one event in which I cooked and laughed with Dad but I will remember and cherish them all.

Watch what this dog can do in 30 seconds!

The View Dad Had Everytime He Ate: Reggie

My favorite Blaine-o-ism was every time his dog Reggie came in he held his hands out and said "Reggie, love of my life" or "Reggie, where have you been all my life?" --Trisha

Trisha: My Inheritance

Some People Inherit ... tangible items when their parent dies, I have inherited something more lasting and valuable than money or things.

My Dad felt so strongly about things, and was so honest about how he felt and those qualities I carry with me.

The best thing about my Dad is how he made me feel every day as his daughter. He made me feel loved, protected, valued. He made me feel smart, pertinent, welcome and treasured.

He made me feel these things every single time I saw him or talked to him. What an amazing thing to give your child.

I have thought a lot about this gift he gave me and I have spent the last year trying to pass it on to Lily. It has taken some practice but is is fun and reaffirming to greet your family each time you see them with all the love and admiration that sometimes gets left unspoken.

I had an amazing adult relationship with Dad and now that Lily is 18 and off into the Adult world, I hope to build that same relationship with her. I told her as she graduated this year that our journey was not over just changing and we would always be just as close as ever just like me and my Dad.

Thanks Dad,
love you - Trisha

Happy Father's Day

Dear Dad,

I've been thinking about what to do for father's day so I deiced to write you this letter.  I miss you and love so much.  I miss your warm hugs you used to give me.  Then there was that great laugh of yours, a tremendous love for your horses, love of food, cooking and cooking shows, your great smile, watching old westerns on TNT, barbecues in the front yard.  I can still see you in your recliner with Reggie on your lap, both of you still sound a sleep.  How can I forget the jokes you would tell that would make me laugh so hard just to here you laughing at your own joke.  Remember all your project cars in the driveway?  All your food "creations", worn out construction pants with drywall mud all over them, the way you looked after getting a load of sawdust.  It's in your hair, on the top of your nose and cheeks.  Then there was the strong moral man that you were.  With an incredible talent for getting any horse to jump on a lunge line, while at the same time being the best Grandpa; a man devoted to his family.  Thank you for all the wonderful memories that you have given me and the amazing family to share them with...

Your loving daughter,

Ann

Trish's 24 hour visit to Loveland

May 30, 2008
Trish came to visit after a business trip to Boulder. We didn't waste a bit of the 24 hours she had to spend with us, either! This pic is taken on Aaron's front ramp. We are having a beautiful, wet, and green spring. Thank goodness the tornado destruction was 30 miles away from us. It reminds me that we never know what can happen on any given day, and to make the most of every day we are alive!
love,
Sue
