Again, She Takes It All...

Ann last week continued her domination with another first and second place finish during the Oaks Blenheim Summer Classic III. Mike, Jon, and Diane were all able to come to the show for support. It was a lot of fun.

My remembrance...

I have thought about dad a lot this week and I ran into a picture that represents some of the best times I ever had with him. This picture was taken on our first Moab trip. Dad was so excited about the big fire and his dutch oven contraption that he asked me to take a picture of it. This was only one event in which I cooked and laughed with Dad but I will remember and cherish them all.

Watch what this dog can do in 30 seconds!

The View Dad Had Everytime He Ate: Reggie

My favorite Blaine-o-ism was every time his dog Reggie came in he held his hands out and said "Reggie, love of my life" or "Reggie, where have you been all my life?" --Trisha

Trisha: My Inheritance

Some People Inherit ... tangible items when their parent dies, I have inherited something more lasting and valuable than money or things.

My Dad felt so strongly about things, and was so honest about how he felt and those qualities I carry with me.

The best thing about my Dad is how he made me feel every day as his daughter. He made me feel loved, protected, valued. He made me feel smart, pertinent, welcome and treasured.

He made me feel these things every single time I saw him or talked to him. What an amazing thing to give your child.

I have thought a lot about this gift he gave me and I have spent the last year trying to pass it on to Lily. It has taken some practice but is is fun and reaffirming to greet your family each time you see them with all the love and admiration that sometimes gets left unspoken.

I had an amazing adult relationship with Dad and now that Lily is 18 and off into the Adult world, I hope to build that same relationship with her. I told her as she graduated this year that our journey was not over just changing and we would always be just as close as ever just like me and my Dad.

Thanks Dad,
love you - Trisha

Happy Father's Day

Dear Dad,

I've been thinking about what to do for father's day so I deiced to write you this letter.  I miss you and love so much.  I miss your warm hugs you used to give me.  Then there was that great laugh of yours, a tremendous love for your horses, love of food, cooking and cooking shows, your great smile, watching old westerns on TNT, barbecues in the front yard.  I can still see you in your recliner with Reggie on your lap, both of you still sound a sleep.  How can I forget the jokes you would tell that would make me laugh so hard just to here you laughing at your own joke.  Remember all your project cars in the driveway?  All your food "creations", worn out construction pants with drywall mud all over them, the way you looked after getting a load of sawdust.  It's in your hair, on the top of your nose and cheeks.  Then there was the strong moral man that you were.  With an incredible talent for getting any horse to jump on a lunge line, while at the same time being the best Grandpa; a man devoted to his family.  Thank you for all the wonderful memories that you have given me and the amazing family to share them with...

Your loving daughter,

Ann

Trish's 24 hour visit to Loveland

May 30, 2008
Trish came to visit after a business trip to Boulder. We didn't waste a bit of the 24 hours she had to spend with us, either! This pic is taken on Aaron's front ramp. We are having a beautiful, wet, and green spring. Thank goodness the tornado destruction was 30 miles away from us. It reminds me that we never know what can happen on any given day, and to make the most of every day we are alive!
love,
Sue
